About the Play
Girish Karnad’s Wedding Album is a poignant and humorous exploration of the modern Indian family, set against the backdrop of an arranged marriage. Through the lives of an upper-middle-class family preparing for their daughter’s wedding, the play delves into the contradictions between tradition and modernity, love and duty, appearance and reality. With razor-sharp dialogue and layered storytelling, Wedding Album offers a deeply relatable and thought-provoking look at family bonds, generational conflicts, and personal aspirations in contemporary India.
