Girish Karnad’s Wedding Album is a poignant and humorous exploration of the modern Indian family, set against the backdrop of an arranged marriage. Through the lives of an upper-middle-class family preparing for their daughter’s wedding, the play delves into the contradictions between tradition and modernity, love and duty, appearance and reality.
With razor-sharp dialogue and layered storytelling, Wedding Album offers a deeply relatable and thought-provoking look at family bonds, generational conflicts, and personal aspirations in contemporary India.

Kishore Acharya is a seasoned creative professional with over 18 years of experience spanning theatre, television, and filmmaking, with expertise in acting, scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, and directing. He was selected for the prestigious filmmaker exchange program with Filmhogskolan, University of Goteborg, Sweden, in 2012. Kishore has held leadership roles in television, serving as Head of Fiction & Nonfiction Programming at Zee Kannada and Channel Head at Udaya TV, where he shaped content strategy and audience engagement. He also established content strategy for ZEE5 and brand strategy for ShareChat (Moj), contributing to significant user and viewership growth. A versatile theatre artist, Kishore has been deeply involved in Bangalore’s theatre scene for over 18 years, excelling in acting, lighting, production, writing, and directing, and has played lead roles in popular television serials on Zee TV Kannada and E TV Kannada.
Reshmi Nair

Reshmi is a kathak dancer, a tarot reader, a mother of three who has also started to get actively involved with theatre all of which keeps her busy. According to her, “theatre is unapologetic, it is a way of healing and expression as well. Wedding Album follows young woman making decisions that are the realities of life and resonates with the truth of life.”
Harish Seshadri
Actor
Harish is an actor, director, and writer in the media industry. He started this journey on stage as an actor and backstage crew for plays helmed by several acclaimed directors. He progressed to directing plays and later went on to work in TV and film as an actor and associate director. In the recent past, he has worked as an executive producer and content manager for TV channels. He is currently pursuing his passion for screenwriting.
Lakshmi Karanth

Lakshmi is an actor, a marketing professional and a director. She likes to spend her time travelling, enjoys writing, art, watching movies. Watching a play at a young age attracted Laxmi to theatre; the fascination of watching a person act as a different person of stage stuck with her. She has done multiple professional courses in theatre. According to her, “acting enhances personality”; Wedding Album followed a passionate process which helped her as an actor and an individual.
Aaria Madhup
Actor
Aaria is a dancer. Kathak and Bharatnatyam are her chosen forms. She likes to write especially about Vedic texts and share it with interested audiences. She enjoys being on stage and loves being in the spotlight.
K T Thomas
Actor
Thomas is a Designer (Interior Design with a specialization in Furniture Design) based in Bangalore. He has worked on projects ranging from residential interiors, corporate spaces, retail, window display, visual merchandising, furniture, product and graphic design. He loves adventure sports, was a lead vocalist in a semi-professional rock band and is also involved in volunteer work.
Bharathi Govindasamy

Bhara worked in the IT sector for over two decades and now works for a health care company. Reading tamil poetry, watching plays and movies and theatre has always been Bhara’s passion, she has done improvisation theatre making – Wedding Album is her entry to scripted theatre. Wedding Album as a text is nuanced, the story is complex; multiple layers with each character and the play encaptures only a nugget of their lives. To be true to your character as an actor is what Bhara has learnt through the course of Wedding Album.

Gopi works in the IT field as a software developer. He invests his free time in acting and theatre. Since childhood, Gopi has imagined himself in the shoes of the characters that he witnessed in movies. This imagination was given an opportunity on stage with Wedding Album. Wedding Album is not fictional or fantasy; it is based on human relations, some of the inner-most feelings of relationships that one carries. It is relatable and easy to connect to which helped him to connect real life instances to the play.
Chaithra Ballal

Chaithra is a chartered accountant who has enjoyed dancing since a young age. She reads a lot and tries to participate in cultural events, trying out something new is what drove Chaithra to theatre. She had a mind block with regard to addressing an audience and to overcome this, she took up acting in Wedding Album. Wedding Album helped Chaithra to get out of her nervous state of being on stage with an audience.
Vikram Balakrishna

Vikram Balakrishna works in an IT firm called Atos, as the CTO for India. He likes a lot of extreme adventure activities, and is interested in arts and culture. He grew up in Bangalore and got involved in it at the time when theater was becoming more popular in Bangalore and was a part of productions as well as on stage, which was an experience he still cherishes and looks to go back to whenever he can.
Mili Sudhakar

Mili Sudhakar has dedicated over twenty years to her career in an IT company. Her five-year-old son, Kairav, keeps her and her husband, Girin, actively engaged. Beyond her professional life and family, Mili finds joy in cooking, singing, and exploring new destinations through travel. A long-held fascination since childhood is acting.
Mili found significant insight in Kishore’s message to the team about acting. He addressed the common feeling of being an amateur, emphasizing that passion and dedication are key. Kishore suggested that even without prior experience, genuine commitment and effort can lead to surprising levels of performance. This idea deeply resonated with Mili, who observed the immense effort involved and concluded that such dedication is essential to success in acting. This stood out as a major takeaway, alongside the acting experience itself.
