Whispers in Stone – Chronicles of a Civilisation is a unique photographic exhibition being held at Gallery 1 & 2, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru, from 16 to 26 July 2026.
Through 74 carefully curated photographs, it takes visitors on a visual journey spanning nearly 30,000 years of Indian civilisation — from the prehistoric rock art of Bhimbetka through the Indus-Saraswati Civilisation, the great rock-cut sanctuaries of Badami, Mahabalipuram and Elephanta, and the magnificent temples of the Chalukya, Chola and Hoysala dynasties, to the living shrines of the Northeast. History, culture, art, architecture and heritage converge here in a manner rarely assembled under one roof.
74 photographs, curated across five chronological chapters - spans rock art, rock-cut sanctuaries, temple architecture and living traditions. Sites include Bhimbetka, Badami, Mahabalipuram, Elephanta, Konark, Modhera, Tripura and the temples of the Chalukya, Chola, and Hoysala dynasties.
