And How Do You Feel About That? is a book that brings together fifty stories based on real clinical work.
It was written with the intention of demystifying psychotherapy—offering readers a glimpse of what actually happens in the conversation between therapist and client. It is written in a simple, conversational style that the layperson can relate with, but has a richness and depth that those in the world of therapy will uniquely appreciate.
Through these vignettes, the book also showcases the range and depth of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and how its ideas come alive in real clinical encounters.
In this two-hour session, the authors, Aruna Gopakumar and Yashodhara Lal, invite therapists, counsellors, coaches, and other helping professionals into a conversation about the thinking behind these stories. Participants who have read the book are especially welcome to bring their curiosity and questions: Why did you intervene in that moment? Tell us about your thinking here or tell us more about this technique.
During the session, they will read short sections from selected stories and pause to unpack the therapeutic decisions within them. The authors will reflect on their learning, demonstrate selected methods, and discuss what it means to work relationally with clients.
Rather than a lecture, the evening is intended as a dialogue among practitioners interested in the craft of therapy. It is also an opportunity to meet and connect with other therapists on a relaxed Sunday evening.
Practitioners of all modalities, all experience levels welcome. Participants who have read the book will likely find the discussion particularly enriching.
