Event Description

Why Did You Do That?!: An NVC Discovery Workshop

Curiosity is a human superpower.

Where we direct it makes all the difference.

Tea and cookies will be available 15 minutes before for those who can join us for a pre-session chat!
Who: Open to all, 12 years old and above.

We are extraordinarily good at asking “why?” Unfortunately, we’re also extraordinarily quick to answer it, usually with the worst possible explanation.

Your spouse forgets something important. Why? "Because they don't love me enough to remember!"

Your child ignores you after you’ve asked three times. Why? "Because children these days don't have enough manners.” Or even, “Because they don’t care about me at all."

What if we could shift our "why" towards deeper understanding? Why did they do that? What mattered to them at that moment? What were they trying to take care of?

Join us for this NVC Discovery Session and learn how to shift the energy of "Why did you do that?!" from accusation to curiosity, from reaction to response, and from judgement to understanding.

What to Expect

In this experiential 90-minute workshop, we’ll explore how a tiny shift in attention can lead to a powerful change in how we experience difficult moments.

Through reflection, group exercises, and hands-on practice, we’ll learn:

The three core principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

The concept of Universal Human Needs and how it can transform our understanding of ourselves and others

A simple and practical tool to shift from personalisation, accusation and blame, to greater curiosity and understanding

About this Session

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a simple yet powerful approach developed by Marshall Rosenberg that transforms everyday disagreements into deeper connection, both with ourselves and with others.

This DISCOVERY session offers a taste of NVC in a fun and participative evening, with handouts and ideas you can begin experimenting with in everyday life.
