Event Description

This event will pay tribute to Ustad Rashid Khan, an illustrious figure in Indian classical music, through Ragas. In Hindustani classical music, a Raga represents an array of melodic structures with musical motifs. They can express different moods for different times of the day. In this evening concert in the BIC Amphitheatre, the artists will present bandishes of different ragas from the Hindustani classical tradition.

Performers Debdeep Misra Vocalist

Since 2006, Debdeep is under the tutelage of veteran vocalist Pt. Aniruddha Bhattacharya Debdeep has given quite a few recitals organised by connaisseurs in various places like Westbengal. Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Pune, Varanasi, Lucknow where he featured among the stalwarts of classical music. Inspired by Swami Vivekananda, Debdeep worked hard and got the chance in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekanada Vidyamandir Maida In 2017, Debdeep was honored with the “Giridhari Ratna Samman” by Puravai Sanskreetikala Vikashkendra in Kolkata, and also received the “Pandit Trimbakrao Janorikar Sashtriya Gayan” award from Gaanwardhan in Pune. The following year, in 2018, he was recognized with the “Kala Aparanji” Award by Kala Vikash Parishat in Karnataka and the “Sangeet Pratibha Samman” from Kairali Kala Kshetram in New Delhi. Additionally, in 2018, he was bestowed with the “Sangeet Kanaka Mani Samman” award by Puravai Sanskreetikala Vikashkendra in Kolkata.

Roopak Kallurkar Tabla

Roopak Kallurkar, a highly acclaimed classical tabla player in India, is the son and disciple of tabla maestro Dr. Pt. Rajgopal Kallurkar. Starting his musical journey at the age of 5 under his father’s guidance, he hails from the Farrukhabad gharana while mastering other gharanas simultaneously. Roopak earned a CCRT scholarship for his exceptional tabla skills and achieved distinction in the Akhila Bharata Gandharva Maha Mandal’s Alankaar exam. As a versatile artist, he has accompanied numerous musicians, showcased his talent on Indian television, and performed solo and with vocalists or Kathak dancers across the country.
