Yakshagana is a traditional theatre from Dakshin Kannada that combines dance, music, dialogue in unique style and form.

The tale of Bhasmasura Mohini is an unique episode taken from the Mahabharata and other Puranic texts. It narrates how a demon Bhasmasura, obtained a powerful boon from Lord Shiva and granted him the ability to reincarnate anyone by placing his hand on their head.

The story climaxes from how he uses this boon with aggressiveness to the point where he gets destroyed himself thereby restoring balance to the universe. The story concludes with a benediction, Mangalam showcasing that peace and auspicious forces triumps at the end.
