Event Description

Chinese dim sum teahouse Yauatcha, will mark the arrival of Chinese New Year 2021 - the year of the Ox with eye-catching window illustrations, festive lanterns and a limited edition festive menu available until Sunday, 28th February 2021. The festive menu will showcase the finest ingredients and flavours to mark the New Year in style.

After a turbulent 2020, the Ox denotes the hard work, positivity and honesty that will be manifested in all of us in the coming 12 months. The second animal in the Chinese zodiac, Oxen are grounded, loyal, gentle and trustworthy, as well as representing stability and nourishment, all characteristics which bode well for the year ahead.

Yauatcha is celebrating Chinese New Year with an exclusive Year of the Ox menu, limited edition cocktails, and auspicious firecracker desserts inspired by the fireworks set off across China during festivities.

The festive menu features a number of authentic Chinese celebratory dishes that are traditionally eaten during Chinese New Year. Highlights of the menu are the intricately folded legendary dim sum of Yauatcha that symbolizes wealth in Chinese culture like - Tofu and enoki mushroom dumpling with umami rich enoki & shimeji mushroom, silken tofu, water chestnut and asparagus elevated with a golden leaf; Sweet potato and taro puff with lotus root and a taro nest on top; Crispy chicken cheung fun filled with smoky char siu chicken and vegetarian duck, this dumpling is wrapped in a rice noodle roll; Spicy crab dumpling, this green-hued dumpling is made using prawn and crab meat and the Seafood and spinach dumpling made with fresh spinach, succulent pieces of prawn (that symbolizes liveliness in Chinese culture) and water chestnut for the crunch.

The stir-fry selection features Stir-fry silken tofu, shimeji mushroom with sugar snaps and snow peas, a perfect amalgamation of different textures and flavours wok-tossed in spicy toban chilli sauce; Stir-fry chicken with black garlic tossed with eggplant, shimeji mushroom, snow peas in Yauatcha’s signature Sanpei sauce and Wok tossed prawn in pumpkin sauce where palm sized prawns are coated in a mildly sweet pumpkin sauce, fried until golden brown and topped with crunchy curry leaves and toasted sesame seeds. Noodles represent longevity and happiness in Chinese culture and the menu features Cheung fun noodle with chilli garlic tossed with spring onion, garlic, chives and chilli in Toban chilli sauce, a one of a kind take on the rice noodle. The second is a comforting, fragrant, freshly hand rolled Braised truffle noodle with asparagus, bamboo shoot and shimeji mushroom.

An important custom during Chinese New Year is to set off firecrackers and fireworks, a celebration wouldn’t be the same without them. Similarly, a celebratory meal at Yauatcha is often incomplete without its signature patisserie offering. To mark the start of the year of the Ox, the patisserie team at Yauatcha presents The firecracker, an explosive creation that imaginatively incorporates the tradition of firecrackers, made with roasted hazelnut, Szechuan Chantilly, yuzu gel and caramel and Madeleine sponge.

The mixology team at Yauatcha has created an exclusive Chinese New Year cocktail menu that takes inspiration from the theme “Strong like the Ox”. Potent and strong, some of the cocktails include the Genghis Old Fashioned with Baijiu, Choya umeshu, spiced soya and chocolate bitters served with a rice wafer paper garnish; Insane martini made with Monkey 47 gin, blue curacao, vanilla essence, lemon juice, egg white foam served with sesame cookie; Asian dark and stormy with Jameson Irish whiskey, rum, cardamom & ginger syrup, lime juice and ginger beer and the Cantonese sour with Ballantine’s Finest whisky, sweet-chilli syrup, lemon juice and egg white foam.

The limited edition Chinese New Year menu and patisserie specials are available at Yauatcha for dine-in and will be available to homes across Mumbai as a Yauatcha at Home experience. Order on http://bit.ly/KADelivery.
