Join us for a heartfelt discussion celebrating the life and legacy of Aparna Vastarey, the esteemed Kannada TV personality, actress, and former radio jockey. A beloved voice and face in Karnataka’s media landscape, Aparna captivated audiences from her early days as the first presenter on AIR FM Rainbow to her years as a television host and actress in shows like Masanada Hoovu and Majaa Talkies.

In this tribute, four individuals who knew Aparna personally will come together to share their memories of her vibrant career, indelible charm, and enduring impact on Kannada media. They will also reflect on her brave two-year battle with lung cancer, a fight that she faced with incredible strength and resilience. Beyond honouring her life, this discussion aims to raise awareness about lung cancer, shedding light on the importance of early detection and treatment.

The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅವರು ನಡೆಸಿದ ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ದೀರ್ಘ ಹೋರಾಟ ಕುರಿತು ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ ಈ ರೋಗದ ಮುನ್ಸೂಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸುವುದು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ.

Dr Yashavant Sirdeshpande, An actor, director, producer & writer in Kannada theatre, television and film industry. Trained from Ninasam Theatre Institute & further courses at Tisch School of Arts, New York.

Awarded highest civilian award Rajyotsava award from Government of Karnataka & Honorary Doctorate from Folklore University, Karnataka. Produced five films out which Haadu Hakki Haadu won best children film award. Staged few thousands of dramas all over state, reaching few lakhs of audience. Penned few books and articles in noted news dailies.


Nagaraj Vastarey
Architect, Writer & Poet
Nagaraj Ramaswamy Vastarey is an architect, writer, and poet, recognized for his contributions to both Kannada literature and architectural discourse. A graduate of BMS College of Engineering, he leads Pragrup Amoorthsiti, an architectural practice known for award-winning designs. His literary works, spanning novels, short stories, essays, and poetry, have earned critical acclaim, including the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award and Dr. U.R. Ananthamurthy Award. A passionate advocate for urban writing in Kannada, his columns on architecture feature in leading publications. He also serves as a visiting faculty at esteemed design institutions and regularly shares his poetry on social media.


Shankar Prakash
Olympian Broadcaster & Voice-over Specialist
Shankar Prakash is an internationally acclaimed anchor, cricket commentator, Olympian broadcaster, and voice-over specialist with over 30 years of experience. A graduate of NITK Surathkal (B.E.) and Central College Bangalore (MBA), he has worked across multiple countries, hosting prestigious global events. He has anchored 4,000+ events, including those attended by world leaders, and has been the first Indian to commentate in five consecutive Olympics. With extensive media experience in TV, radio, and voice-overs (8000+ projects in seven languages), he has received numerous accolades, including the Kempegowda Award and Distinguished Alumni Award (NITK).


Bharathi Hegde
Independent Consultant
With over 22 years of experience in journalism and 5.5 years in the development sector, Bharathi Hegde is a passionate writer, documentary scriptwriter, and media professional. She has contributed extensively to Kannada journalism, serving as a Senior Sub Editor at Udayavani, Kannada Prabha, and Vijaya Vani, and has managed supplements focused on women, children, and rural issues. Her work extends to documentary scripting, scriptwriting for Kannada television, and authoring books on women’s empowerment, organic farming, and cinema. A recipient of multiple state-level awards, she has also served as a jury member at the Bengaluru International Film Festival and a two-time member of the Censor Board of India.
