Meet Chef Ashay Dhopatkar

Chef Ashay Dhopatkar was recently in town for an event at Caperberry and FAVA. The Chef from Delhi was in conversation with Explocity. He is quite progressive in his cooking and his outlook on food. Read the full interview here.

 

Where did you grow up?

Mumbai - Goa - London

              

What led you to becoming a chef?

Ever since I was a kid I would help around with cooking and was always fascinated by restaurants and chefs.

 

How long have you been a chef?

12 years now.

 

What do you enjoy more? Cooking or creating?

To me they are one and the same.

Do you feel there is virtue in preserving the authenticity of cuisine?

There is every possible virtue in doing that. Although it is also very important to be progressive in interpreting a cuisine.

 

What dish do you like eating the most?

Simple steaks.

 

What’s your least favourite dish?

None to be honest. I eat everything but not just anything.

How long have you been in Bangalore?

Never been before and this would be my first time.
