Onigiri

Onigiri is a Japanese dish that is not a type of sushi. It is a rice ball that is made with plain rice. Onigiri is made to preserve rice while sushi is made to preserve fish.

White rice is made into a ball or in triangular or cylindrical shapes. This is wrapped in nori. This is filled with salted salmon or any pickled, salty or sour ingredient that acts as a preservative.

This has become a very popular dish because of how easy it is to make and it keeps longer too. It can be made as a full meal with fresh or leftover rice.
