The Ukrainian Pampushky are like filled, fried doughnuts. The dish is a combination of the Polish “pampuch” and German “kuchen” or cake. It can be sweet or savoury.
The sweet version is filled with fruit, or berries and topped with powdered sugar. The savoury version doesn’t have a filling. It’s usually eaten by dipping in a garlic sauce or borscht.
The dish wa taken to Ukraine by German colonists and is now considered one of the traditional Ukrainian foods.
