Event Description

Aritmija Fusion brings together four accomplished musicians from Slovenia and India: Slovenian guitarists Šemsudin Džopa and Tilen Stepišnik, Indian vocalist Sabiha Khan, and tabla player Vinayak Netke. Formed in 2016 during an Indo-Balkan collaboration, the quartet has spent the past decade developing a distinctive musical language that brings together Balkan folk, jazz, flamenco, Sufi, and Indian classical traditions.

Šemsudin Džopa, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and co-founder of the Slovenian ensemble Duo Aritmija, is known for his work across acoustic, classical, and electric guitar, as well as mandolin and saz. He has performed extensively across Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the UK, Argentina, and India. Alongside him is Tilen Stepišnik, guitarist, composer, and cultural worker, whose interest in harmonic minor scales, unusual rhythms, and folk traditions has shaped several acclaimed projects and performances across Europe.

The Indian half of the quartet brings together two widely respected musicians. Vocalist Sabiha Khan, trained by Suresh Wadkar, has sung with and for artists including Ustad Sultan Khan, Clinton Cerejo, Anoushka Shankar, and Karsh Kale. She has performed at festivals and venues across Australia, Slovenia, France, Italy, and the Czech Republic, and has been the voice of Aritmija Fusion since its inception. Tabla player Vinayak Netke, trained under Acharya Jialal Vasant and Avinash Aher, has accompanied luminaries such as Dr. N. Rajam, Lata Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, and Ghulam Ali, and has played in concerts across India, Europe, the UK, the US, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Over the years, Aritmija Fusion has performed at festivals and venues across Europe and India, including the Bangalore International Centre, India Habitat Centre, the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Madame Guitar Festival, and festivals in Slovenia, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Their music is rooted not only in virtuosity, but in a decade-long friendship and a shared belief in music without borders. This concert celebrates ten years of that journey.
