Atta Galatta hosts a conversation on The Remnants of Rebellion by Ponnu Elizabeth Mathew (Aleph) on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at 6:00 PM. Journalist and author Ammu Joseph will be in discussion with the author.

The novel is inspired by an incident from Mathew’s grandfather’s life as a rubber estate superintendent in Kerala during the rise of Naxal influence in the late 1960s. It traces the ideological reach of the Naxalbari movement into Kerala, weaving a multi-generational narrative set in the Western Ghats.

Exploring themes of caste, Christianity, and the history of Kerala’s Syrian Christian community, the book examines the costs of rebellion and the complexities of political and personal histories.
