This is the story of the mighty Cauvery River, a lifeline shaping extraordinary ecosystems and nurturing an astonishing diversity of wildlife.

Set amidst the captivating and lesser-known habitats of MM Hills and Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuaries, the documentary takes viewers on a mesmerizing journey across all seasons, revealing how creatures great and small engage in a dramatic dance for survival. Through stunning visuals and unexpected encounters, the documentary reveals marvelous adaptations and uncovers nature’s hidden wonders—some bizarre, others deeply mysterious—all intricately woven into a vibrant tapestry of life. Against the backdrop of this harsh landscape, Cauvery: River of Life portrays the fragile balance of existence, where survival hinges on this crystal thread that sustains countless lives.

The film screening will be followed by a conversation between the Director and Executive Producer, and then an interactive discussion with the audience.

Executive Producer & Scientific Advisor

Dr. Sanjay Gubbi is one the India’s premiere wildlife biologists and conservationists. He has won worldwide acclaim for his conservation work and also for his work with the communities and towards mitigating human-wildlife conflict. He is the founder of Holématthi Nature Foundation which focuses on conserving the Cauvery landscape.
Sara
Director

Sara is an award winning wildlife filmmaker who has worked on numerous projects with international broadcasters including Netflix, National Geographic and the BBC. He has also produced and directed numerous conservation films that have helped raise awareness about some critical issues in the country.
