Event Description

Country is a genre of popular music that originated with blues, church music such as Southern gospel and spirituals, old-time, and American folk music forms. Woody Guthrie was an American singer-songwriter, and one of the most significant figures in American folk music. Woody Guthrie influenced all genres of music, and that impact is especially strong within Country music. But Woody himself was inspired by Country musicians such as the Carter Family, so we see this circle of inspiration is a universal quality that music has, as are the themes that art explores. Join us as we share some songs and themes that dissolve international boundaries and build bridges between cultures.
