Many contemporary archival practices treat their work as material that engages public memory in the present; they’re not simply driven towards finding, guarding and building safe repositories. They consider what archives can offer in challenging established narratives and providing a framework for engaging with underrepresented histories. How can these ideas be tinkered around with in educational settings, and what can that offer to pedagogy? Through this discussion, we will engage with archives that operate out of, or work with, educational institutions in different registers to understand how their practices enter learning contexts and what the future of their work looks like.
We will be joined by Anjali Ramachandran from the Archives at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and Mira Brunner from the Queer Archive for Memory, Reflection, and Activism (QAMRA) at National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in conversation with Dr Samyak Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Social Science at NLSIU.
This event is part of Art is Life: Elsewhere hosted in collaboration with National Law School of India University (NLSIU), as an offshoot series of programs as part of our annual festival Art is Life.
