Curator's Note
How do you make your space within an existing mainstream that has always pushed voices from the margins out? This curation attempts to look at films, all with its unique voices, and how it interrupts the mainstream narrative, sometimes through experimentation, and sometimes through being an integrated mainstream experience. These voices are real, raw and honest, and do not hold themselves back when it comes to speaking about their experiences. Most of these films are about the different facets of queer experience and don't restrict itself to only one issue. It talks of family relationships, dating experiences, relationship with religion, migration, belonging, violence et al. In order to have a holistic overview of the regional experiences, the films are selected from various languages including Hindi, Pahadi, Assamese, Malayalam and Bengali. The films push you to unlearn and relearn your notions of what it means to be queer, and to have a peek into our everyday life.
