Event Description

Ritu Raga Rang: Seasons through Ragas

The world of Hindustani classical music has been traditionally linked to the idea of seasons. Ancient Indian scriptures described six distinct seasons or ritus: Vasant (Spring), Grishma (summer), Varsha (monsoon), Sharad (Autumn), Hemant (Pre-Winter) and Shishir (Winter). Each of these seasons bring about different moods and feelings. In this multi-sensory performance, which includes Ragamala paintings and fragrances that evoke the feelings of each season, Nishant will paint portraits of the ritus using ragas and compositions as a canvas.

This programme premiered at Stanford University to a warm reception and now comes to Bengaluru for the first time.
