Immerse yourself in the quiet dramas and tender simplicities of Hittale, a village adorned with sweeping paddy fields and a river that glides by like a whispered secret. At its heart lives Diya, a spirited child, orphaned yet fiercely nurtured by her grandmother.
In "Those Ripples Call Me Home", Soumya Doralli paints a lyrical portrait of rural life, the soft cadence of its days set against the restless pulse of the city beyond. Set against the backdrop of the late twentieth century, this deeply evocative coming-of-age novel captures the ache, wonder, and inevitability of growing up.
About the author
A former Software Engineer and a Banker, Soumya Doralli is an Indian author of three books of fiction. Two of her recent works include “I Seek You” (Half Baked Beans Publishing, 2023) and “Hues of the Sky” (Amazon kdp, 2020). Her work has been published in both Indian and International Literary Magazines and Journals and a couple of anthologies.
She was the Second Prize Winner of the Verse of Silence Poetry in Pamphlet Contest, 2025. Her story was among the Top 10 Select Entries of the Verse of Silence Story Writing Contest, 2024. Her short story secured a place in the Special Issue of the Hemlock Journal’s Anti-War Fiction Contest, 2024. Her poetry was longlisted for the Wingword Poetry Prize, 2024.
Once a movie buff, now all she raves about are books. Having an eclectic taste in literature, she likes how books alter one’s course of thinking, making a universal emotional appeal. She lives two lives, one of someone who’s crafting a story and infusing life into the characters and the other, more pronounced, who’s perpetually learning.
As a writer Soumya classifies herself as somewhere between a pantser and a plotter. When her work gets demanding she doesn’t mind torturing her brain a little. She has organically learnt the art of writing and whatever little or great her propensities as a writer are, she owes it to books and her perseverance.
Apart from painting, cooking, travelling and listening to rock music, she loves hopping onto bookstores and libraries.
