About the play: The world is in the throes of waging wars. As a society, we have blood on our hands. The wounds of masculinity are gutting women to pain and death. Even more cruel is racism, which mocks humanity and creates a gulf among people. These are self-inflicted wounds. We won’t be absolved from them unless we face them.
There are countless narratives of such deep gashes. We have selected some stories, poems, and plays of war and communal violence and woven them into a string of a play.
This work is also being used as a text for theatre students who’d like to pursue this form. The play is a collage on why war isn’t necessary for the world.
On the wall in chalk, it is written: ‘‘They want war’’. He who wrote it has already fallen. – Bertolt Brecht.
