Event Description

The body is far more resilient than we imagine.

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a form of expressive arts therapy that begins with a simple premise: the body already knows things the mind has not yet found words for. Through guided movement, somatic awareness, and mindful exploration, this workshop invites you to tune into that wisdom.

For all bodies, from all backgrounds, the aim is practical as much as it is experiential. By identifying the movements and sensations that anchor feelings of ease, confidence, and well-being, you will leave with a functional toolkit of somatic practices for everyday life.

Come as you are. Meet yourself.

This event is a part of our programming to celebrate World Dance Day 2026, ‘The Many Lives of Dance’.

In Collaboration with:

Facilitator

Preethi Rajagopalan
Dance Movement Therapy Practitioner
Preethi Rajagopalan’s personal experience of how dance effects the body and mind led her to explore the field of dance therapy, and in 2015, she earned her certification as a Dance Movement Therapy Facilitator from the Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI). Building on her foundation, she pursued a postgraduate-level dance therapy program at the National Centre for Dance Therapy (NCDT) in Montreal, Canada. Preethi has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including children with special needs, teachers, college students, women’s groups, corporate organizations, and individual clients with clinical conditions. Her expertise lies in conducting sessions on stress management, work- life balance, mindfulness, creative meditation, emotional regulation, and communication, helping people foster holistic well-being and personal growth.

Preethi is a trauma-informed and queer-affirmative practitioner with experience working with individuals and communities. She is the co-director and faculty member of the Certificate Course in Dance Movement Therapy offered by CMTAI. To further her understanding of the body and mind, she has enrolled in a 3-year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training program from Somatic Experiencing International.
