Event Description

Whether you’re coming with your children, grandparents, cousins, neighbours, or friends who feel like family, there’s something waiting for everyone to discover together at our fifth edition of the Family Day. Wander through the museum, dive into hands-on workshops, listen to captivating stories, solve playful challenges, and explore exhibitions through activities designed for curious minds of all ages.

Family Day is an invitation to slow down, connect, and experience the museum in ways both familiar and unexpected. All you need to bring is your sense of curiosity, and the people you love sharing it with!

Schedule

Escape Room (10:00 am – 11:00 am) – Ages 13 to 18

In this Escape Room, clues hide in plain sight inside the paintings in Beneath the Turning Sky for you to solve and find your way out of the exhibition space! Join us for this mystery-filled adventure!

Dabble Playart (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) – Ages 1 to 6 

Explore sensory art and engage in open-ended creativity with the Dabble PlayArt experience with toxin-free Dabble Art supplies and tools! 

Tapestry (10:00 am – 4:00 pm) – All ages

 An all-day weaving space that invites us to slow down, be present, and find value in what we might otherwise overlook. In this session,  cloth becomes more than a woven object, it becomes a memory shaped by our hands and time.

ಇದು ದಿನವಿಡೀ ತೆರೆದಿರುವ ಟ್ಯಾಪೆಸ್ಟ್ರಿ ತಾಣ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಬರೀ ನೇಯ್ದ ವಸ್ತುವಾಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗಳ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಸಮಯ ಸೇರಿ, ಅದು ಒಂದು ನೆನಪಾಗಿ ರೂಪುಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. 

Treevellers’ Katte (11:00 am – 2:30 pm) – All Ages

A talk circle and sensory exploration with tree myths, stories and memories. We all have a special tree in our lives. Treevellers’ Katte is where tree-stories can be safely exhaled, for this is a space that holds trees and stories sacred.

ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲೂ ನಮಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಒಂದು ಮರವಿರುತ್ತದೆ.  ಟ್ರೀವೆಲ್ಲರ್ಸ್‌ ಕಟ್ಟೆ ಅಂಥ ಮರದ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜಾಗ — ಮರಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವುಗಳ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಾಪಾಡುವ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಳ. ಎಲ್ಲ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಮುಕ್ತ ಡ್ರಾಪ್-ಇನ್ ಸೆಷನ್.

Auto Akka – Auto Akka and the City’s Heat: Experiences, Journeys, and Conversations (10:15 am – 11:15 am) – Ages 8 and above

Hear directly from Bengaluru’s Auto Akkas as they share their firsthand experiences of navigating rising heat and the everyday realities of life on the road. Moderated by Nithya, this open panel discussion will follow a reading of Auto Akka and the Hot Seat, a children’s illustrated storybook about increasing temperatures in Bengaluru, and conclude with an audience Q&A. 

ಬಿಸಿಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಆಟೋ ಅಕ್ಕಂದಿರು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಕೇಳಿ. ನಿತ್ಯಾ ಅವರ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತ ಸಂವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ‘ಆಟೋ ಅಕ್ಕ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಟ್ ಸೀಟ್’ಎಂಬ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಚಿತ್ರಕಥೆಯ ಓದಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ಸಿಗಲಿದೆ. ಬಳಿಕ ಆಟೋ ಅಕ್ಕಂದಿರು ತಮ್ಮ ನೈಜ ಅನುಭವಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Philosophising with children (11:30 am – 1:30 pm) – Ages 12 and above

This Family Day at MAP, ‘A room of children’s philosophies’ invites you to deep dive into a few of the exhibits from Beneath the Turning Sky and make them your philosophical playground. Share your perspectives on life’s big questions and have a chance to listen to new perspectives.

Handmade Accordion Picture Book Workshop (11:30 – 1:30 pm) – Ages 8 and above

In this workshop, participants will create their own wordless picture books using the accordion format. Through wordless picture books, explore creativity, visual storytelling, and the connections between language, art, and everyday life.

ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅಕಾರ್ಡಿಯನ್‌ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಡಚಬಹುದಾದ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಚಿತ್ರಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೇ ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳಿ! ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಥೆ ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾಷೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ಬದುಕಿನ ಜೊತೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಬೆಸೆದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ. 

Uncommon Sense! A MAP Kids Quiz (11:45 am to 12:45 am) – Ages 8 and above

Part trivia, part detective work, part lucky guess! Here, knowing the obvious answer isn’t enough. A team-based quiz where  families compete!  Explore strange facts, hidden stories, and unexpected connections in the Beneath the Turning Sky exhibition with this MAP Kids Quiz – an interactive art-themed live digital quiz experience hosted in real time.

Auto Akka – Tales from the Hot Seat (2:00 pm to 3:00 pm) – Ages 8 and above

How do we keep our city cool on scorching hot days? Join us for a fun, interactive session built around the children’s illustrated book Auto Akka and the Hot Seat! And dive into a hands-on workshop after, to imagine, sketch, and design your very own climate resilient “cool” auto-rickshaws.

Storytelling with Vikram Sridhar! (2:00 to 3:00 pm) – All ages

 In this engaging hour-long session, theatre artist Vikram Sridhar explores the stories of different comic making traditions of India as seen in the exhibition ‘A Moving Line: 1500 Years of Indian Visual Storytelling’

Pop-Up World Cards! (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm) – All ages

Discover how paper can stand, fold, and surprise! Inspired by Beneath the Turning Sky, this quick pop-up activity invites you to think about our place in the world: the land we stand on, the stories we tell, and the communities we share it with. 

ಕಾಗದವನ್ನು ಮಡಚಿ, ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಅದರಿಂದ ಅಚ್ಚರಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ! ತಿರುಗುವ ಆಕಾಶದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನದಿಂದ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಈ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಪಾಪ್-ಅಪ್ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಬದುಕುವ ಜಗತ್ತು, ಅದರ ಜೊತೆಗಿನ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಬಂಧ, ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಜನರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೊಸ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಚಿಸೋಣ.
