Event Description

Jarasandha Vadhe is a well-known story from the Mahabharata. To help Yudhishthira perform the Rajasuya Yajna, Lord Krishna, along with Bhima and Arjuna, visits the powerful King Jarasandha of Magadha. A fierce duel follows between Bhima and Jarasandha, ending with the victory of good over evil through Krishna’s guidance and Bhima’s strength.

This Yakshagana performance features four iconic characters – Krishna, Jarasandha, Bhima, and Arjuna and brings the story to life through expressive acting, traditional music, vibrant costumes, and energetic dance. Presented by Team Yakshadegula, the performance is uniquely brought to life by an ensemble of women Yakshagana artists, celebrating both the richness of this classical storytelling tradition and the growing presence of women in the art form. 

The performance is curated by Tvarita Arts Collective India. 

This event is in conjunction with programming for Grip, Hold, Pin.
