For decades, Bengaluru’s citizens, institutions, and experts have worked tirelessly to save the city’s lakes. Marking a step in that effort, the Framework for Lake Rejuvenation is being launched. The comprehensive, five-step document, co-created by Friends of Lakes and WELL Labs along with Greater Bengaluru Authority, citizen groups, NGOs, academics, and experts, addresses the need to capture collective knowledge in a common, transparent, and streamlined framework to guide future lake rejuvenation efforts across the city.
The launch will be followed by a panel discussion that brings together a diverse group of voices, from citizen lake groups to researchers, practitioners, and environmental advocates, to answer a simple question: how can Bengaluru move toward a scientifically grounded, long-term strategy that ensures lakes remain healthy and functional for generations?
This event aims to spark a conversation about how the city can move from isolated projects to a shared, science-based approach for rejuvenating and sustaining its lakes.
