Bangaloreans, more so old Bangaloreans, are hip to the name, Desmond Rice. The iconic restaurateur has had a loyal fan following for decades, most notably starting with a tony restaurant called Prince’s on Brigade Road.

Prince’s led to the opening of another restaurant on Infantry Road, called Tycoons, which in the 90s, became an important stop in culinary Bangalore. It was common to run into the city’s famous and accomplished on any night.

Over the years, Rice has launched several successful and interesting restaurant ventures - one of them being “Desmond’s”, that offered a great lunch for Rs 99. (See pic of Explocity cover, June 2005.)

And now, Rice is bringing back the city’s original favourite, Tycoons.

“My sons and I are totally involved in this, Rice said, “and there’s a lot of hammering and debris going on. We should be ready to launch in a few weeks.”
