After much dilly-dallying, chief minister Siddaramaiah has decided to make Cauvery, the 'jinxed' government bungalow with a sprawling garden on Kumara Krupa Road, his official residence. However, the CM may have to wait another month to shift there as former chief minister Jagadish Shettar is yet to vacate his official residence.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has allotted the bungalow he's staying in now on Kumar Krupa Road to his confidante and PWD minister HC Mahadevappa.

He has decided to temporarily stay in the neighbouring bungalow, allotted to home minister KJ George.

"He may shift to Cauvery after the budget session in July," CM office sources said.

Shunned by many former chief ministers and ministers for being jinxed, Shettar had made Cauvery his official bungalow when he was first made speaker in the BJP government.

He preferred not to change it even after he was made minister, as he believed the house brought him luck. Later, elevated as CM, he chose to stay on.

Shettar's rise as CM disproved the myth that Cauvery is jinxed because of faulty vaastu.

Political leaders have repeatedly shunned Cauvery, believing that their careers will nosedive because of its design.

This 'jinxed' building was blamed for the political setbacks of earlier occupants — Veerendra Patil, R Gundu Rao, JH Patel, and even Siddaramaiah, who lost power after he had a tiff with JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda when he was deputy CM in the Congress-JD(S) government in 2005.
