While addressing the joint session of the state legislature, Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj said that laptops and tablet devices will be provided free of cost to pre university course (PUC) students in order to make them more tech savvy and give them access to technology trends and the internet in general.
The governor seemingly though wasn't very appreciative of social media. He added that social media activity needs to be monitored. He reasoned that social media was being used actively to "fuel communal tension" in the state. The governor also said, "Fundamentalist organisations to vitiate communal harmony in different parts of the state."
