Most parts in the city are suffering with an acute shortage of water. This has led to people aggressively extracting water from the ground, due to which ground water levels have reduced drastically. Presently, even digging 300 metres below ground doesn't help and 70% of the water extracted is not usable. Presently, Bangaloreans consume around 750 million litres a day.
If things go at the same rate, in just over a decade, a large part of the city will be left water-less.
