Bangalore, despite its cosmopolitan culture, expat crowd, number of pubs and nightlife establishments and party-goers has been grappling with a nightlife that doesn't extend beyond 11:30pm. Now, the state government has issued orders that from March 8, every weekend, Bangalore's nightlife revellers will be able to party till 1am.

Every weekend, restaurants and bars will be permitted to stay open til 1am and an official order from the government will be issued to the city police and excise department shortly.

The government will take feedback from the police on if the party public of Bangalore is accepting the extension with responsibility and based on that, might extend the deadline on weekdays as well.
