Bangalore Epicure

Restaurants and cuisines are expanding dramatically in Bangalore. There are new restaurants opening almost every day mostly in Indiranagar and Koramangala. Restaurants are also paying a lot of attention to customer satisfaction, a new phenomenon.

The South and North Bangalore parts are comparatively slow when it comes to new restaurants, but there are so many legendary places. They have their loyal and old customers who keep coming back. Here are my favourites:

Vidyarthi Bhavan – Legendary restaurant for Masala Dosa and opened in 1943. Located in busy Gandhi Bazaar, Basavanagudi. You will fall in love with crispy Dosas served over here. The restaurant has spotless insides with photographs of Kannada poets. Must try dishes are Masala Dosa, Idly Vada and Khara Bath.

CTR or Shree Sagar – Another legendary place for Dosas in Malleswaram. This is a well known restaurant for crispy Butter Masala Dosas and Mangalore Bajjis. This restaurant has loyal patrons and maintains the consistent taste from day one.

Alba in JW Marriott – A fine and elegant restaurant on Lavelle Road. This restaurant is good for people who love Italian food and a fine dining experience. My fav dishes are the Lasagna, Millefoglie di Carasau con Spuma di Asparagi and the Fave e Patatine. Alba has gorgeous interiors. One of the main attractions of Alba is the Chef Antonello Cancedda playing Bollywood Songs on his guitar.

Coringa – Andhra style restaurant which is located in Yelahanka. I have visited so many Andhra restaurants and I found this place is exclusive because dishes are most like my home food and they specialise in Coastal Andhra cuisine. I feel tradition is a word apt for a restaurant like Coringa. Not only is Coringa an oasis for seafood lovers it’s a heavenly place for vegetarians too. Must try dishes here are Kandi Podi Rice, Mango Dal and Veg Biryani.

Hard Rock Café - Hard Rock Café is one place where I nothing negative to say. Everything is great from ambiance to service and quality. One of the best pubs in town. Even if you don’t drink do visit to enjoy the mocktails, food and music. I just love their burgers, signature cocktails and the South Indian breakfast.
