Hushpuppy

 

This is a Southern American side dish. The south of the USA loves corn meal, a type of flour. Hushpuppies are made from cornmeal batter that is deep fried or baked rolled as a small ball or occasionally other shapes. The recipes goes back to Native Americans. The first recorded reference to the word hushpuppy dates to 1899.
