On the occasion of our 64th Republic Day, Le Meridien has put together a host of dishes from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu cuisine.
Speaking to Explocity, Executive Chef and F&B Manager of Le Meridien, Vijaya Baskar said, “Republic Day is an important day for us Indians. True, we achieved independence in 1947, but with the passing of the constitution on January 26, 1950, India became an independent republic. We thought to pay homage to everyone who fought for our independence and to drove our country towards becoming a republic, with food because we wanted to showcase the fact that despite so much diversity, there is unity.”
Dishes that will be served are Nadroo Yakhani, which is a Lotus stem curry from Kashmiri cuisine to Mocchakkai Upakari, a traditional dish made of lentils with coconut and spices from Karnataka, to Gujarati Kadi, Bengali Macchli (Ruhu fish with mustard flavoured sauce) curry, Bhareli Vangi, a Maharastrian style stuffed aubergine in sweet and tangy sauce, Hyderabadi mirchi ka salan and Malabar Avial (a melange of vegetables with coconut ) from the kitchens of Kerala.
North Eastern cuisine also features prominently in the brunch. Der Thuk, a meat and noodle soup from Arunachal Pradesh, Bai, a pork and bamboo shoot curry dish from Mizoram, Yen thong, a Manipuri style chicken curry with potatoes and tomatoes and a host of other dishes will be available.
Desserts have been creatively named for the occasion. You can savour Azadi ka Laddu, Tirangi Barfi and Tri colour phirni apart from other sweets.
You can enjoy the Republic Day Special Brunch at Le Meridien for Rs 1,350, Rs 1,550 (with select IMFL) and Rs 1,950 (with select sparkling). All prices are inclusive of taxes.
