Where did you grow up?
A village called Brahamabarada in Orissa.

What led you to becoming a chef?
Since the age of 15 I have been assisting my mom and grandmom in the kitchen. I slowly developed a passion for cooking and good food. The desire to cook good food led me to become a chef.

How long have you been a chef?
Professionally 22 years.

What do you enjoy more? Cooking or creating?
I enjoy both cooking and creating. In this day and age, more importance is being given to creativity and plating than taste. However in my opinion the food needs to be good.

Do you feel there is virtue in preserving the authenticity of cuisine?
Authenticity of the cuisine is what keeps the culture of every state and region alive and I am completely in agreement with preserving the authenticity.

What dish do you like eating the most?
I love biryani and Dum Handi Gosht.

What’s your least favourite dish?
I loved everything food related.

How long have you lived in Bangalore?
10 years.

Do you like it here?
Yes I do. Bangalore, more or less, has become my home now and I love the cosmopolitan feel of Bangalore.
