My Favourite Restaurants in Bangalore

Being from a food driven family, it was only natural I started loving and appreciating food from a very young age. I am happy to have been born and living in this beautiful city which in the present day is turning out to be a global food destination, with various restaurants, cafés, breweries, steakhouses, nightlife spots bringing us the best from all around the world. I have had the pleasure of visiting various restaurants serving various cuisines and reviewing them, out of which the ones I would pick to be the best are:

Chianti
Hidden amidst an ocean of restaurants in Koramangala 5th block, is this amazing Italian restaurant with romantic decor and beautifully lit chandeliers that serves some of the best modern Italian food with delightful plating and impeccable service paired with perfect wines. The food here is bound to leave you in awe.
Must try – Sangrias, Fettuccine Siciliana, Pollo Del Chianti, Agnelo Scotodito, Pollo Alla Parmagiana, Panna Cotta, Bomba Di Cioccolato.

Grasshopper
If you want to take a drive away from the city, to celebrate a special occasion with your loved one, in a high end romantic restaurant, then this is the place. Though being heavy on the pocket, I would recommend this place for the sheer unmatched excellence this place offers in terms of actual gourmet food. They serve European cuisine in a seven course meal only with prior reservations.
Must try – Prawns with Mango Sesame Ginger and Seaweed, Sea Bass with Sago Dill and Orange Sauce, Fig and Almond ice cream.

The Hole in the Wall Café
A rustic house converted into a café, this place is hustling and bustling especially on a Sunday morning. The food makes up for every minute of the long waiting time to get a table here. They serve English and American breakfast over an extensive menu. If you’ve not had a Sunday morning breakfast at The Hole in the Wall Café, you’ve not had a perfect Sunday in Bangalore.
Must try – The Hole 9 Yards Hash, Sunday Morning, Chip of the Old Cluck, Funky Monkey Waffles, The meaty Sub-in-your-Tub sandwich, Lime and Ginger juice.

Toit
One brewery that stands tall on the top even during the recent surge of microbreweries in the city. Located in the restaurant hub of Indiranagar, it is a 3-level American style pub-brewery that serves various in-house brewed beers with immaculate wood fire pizzas, thronged with the ever in-vogue crowd is what makes Toit one of the most popular pub-breweries in the social circles of Bangalore.
Must try – Belgian Witbier, Long Island Iced Tea, Toit Baked Nachos, Beefy Loaded Potato, Bacon Wrapped chicken, Oriental Veg pizza, Chicken Paprika pizza.

Portland Steakhouse and Café
Nestled in a quiet and discreet lane, Bruton Road off M.G road, it definitely is one of the best steakhouses in the city. Set in a light American backdrop with good old white wooden furniture, this place dishes up some lip-smacking steaks with the best cuts of meat available and staff that have stood the test of time.
Must try – Fillet Mignon, Baby Lamb Chops, Chateaubriand, Tenderloin Steak, Crème Brûlée.

Samarkand
Located on Infantry road, Samarkand serves food from the North-west frontier region with a Mughlai/Nawabi set up. Very popular among biryani lovers, for it serves perfectly flavoured and one of the best dum biryanis in the city.
Must try – Gosht ki Dum Biryani, Barra Kabab Lazeez, Sheekh Kabab, Anjeer Kabab, Shorba
