What’s Onam All About?

Executive Chef Uchit Vohra and Masterchef George Jayasuriya at Dakshin, ITC Windsor are all set to bring out the colours of the harvest festival of Kerala – Onam. Chefs tell us that, “Onam or Thiruvonam originated as a joyous annual reminiscence of the golden rule of King Mahabali. Onam welcomes the spirit of a great king, and assures him that his people are happy and wish him well.”

The special menu that they have put together has a special celebratory Sadya Thali for the occasion. Sadya - the typical Kerala feast served on a banana leaf is a sumptuous spread of rice with a number of side dishes such as curries, Upperies (fried dishes), Pappadams (round crisp flour cakes), Uppilittathu (pickles), Chammanthi (chutney), Payasams and Prathamans (puddings).

Celebrate Onam – the typical Kerala feast with a sumptuous spread of Pazham Parichatu, Avial, Pyre Thoran, Olan, Thenga Palsaadam, Adai Pradhaman and so much more.
