Zongzi With Chef Wang Yixuan

The Chinese Dragon Boat festival is a celebration going back 2,000 years. What the Chinese do on this occasion is eat sticky rice, drink rice wine, race dragon boats and indulge in festivities. Basically, as is any great festival, this is a time to be with friends and eat a lot of good food. If you are miles away from China, a we happen to be, Yauatcha Bangalore is celebrating the Dragon Boat festival in the heart of the city.

Head Chef Wang Yixuan has created a limited time menu featuring Zongzi, little rice parcels. They are made with sticky rice and a variety of fillings, steamed in a lotus leaf. “Being a Chinese dim sum teahouse, celebrating Chinese traditions at Yauatcha is very important to us. We have created new sticky rice dimsum and wine based cocktail and dessert to stay true to our authentic tradition in China. The menu has been prepared to accentuate all senses - from visual to taste to fragrance.” says Chef.

At Yauatcha they have a great list to choose from. For vegetarians they have the options of Edamame with mock duck (made of soy), and the Asparagus with veggies. We loved the aromatic Lotus leaf wrapping. In the non vegetarian section options include pork belly and shiitake mushroom, lamb and pine nuts and chicken among others. Our recommendation would be the lamb.

The menu is accompanied by a drink and dessert. The Wine-soaked water chestnut with mango cake is served alongside a Sauvignon sorbet, while the Citrus Spritz cocktail, made with vodka, dry vermouth, lime and wine.

The Dragon Boat Festival menu is available to order from an a la carte menu from 1st June until 30th June, 2016,for all day dining.
