Aquafest, the seafood festival at The Gateway Hotel’s Karavalli will be held from November 15 to 30. For the festival, executive chef Naren Thimmaiah will offer a special menu of traditional Indian seafood delicacies.
The menu includes starters like caranguejos pimento fritto (stir fried fresh mud crab meat with pepper, chilli and butter), tissryo sukke (clams cooked with fresh ground coconut and Goan spices), octopus uppumunchi (octopus stir fry with grounded chilly and salt) and Syrian meen roast (grilled king fish marinated in Syrian specialty masala) among others. For mains, there is vypeen chemmin piralan (tiger prawn curry), meen menthe kashpu (Mangalore fish curry) and shevai ani refogado (string hoppers cooked with mixed meat and seafood).
To accompany these, there are a variety of chutneys, tomato rasam, Ramasseri idly, coin parathas, neer dosa, appams and Kuttanad boiled rice.
The dessert section features elaneer payasam (tender coconut payasam with jaggery) and coastal cruise (a combination of coconut ice cream with bebinca and dodol).
