Foodies will say it is Bangalore’s answer to hygienic street food, some people say it is like a food-fete through which one can discover India. But Taj calls it Khao Galli, a single place where Bangaloreans are taken on a food odyssey across the country. Arranged by the poolside of the hotel, the event is organised every Wednesday.
The chefs create bewildering array of dishes at live chaat, grill and tandoori counters. There are a range of different parathas (hot off the tawa), a jalebiwala making and serving sweet-sticky jalebis and also a fresh-pressed sugar cane juice counter. And all this just to whet one’s appetite for the 15 authentic Indian main courses, starting from different biryanis to laal maans. There is unlimited draught beer to wash down all the food.
It is not just an escape from the hum-drum of the city for foodies, but also for their families. The hotel organises entertainment like magicians, caricaturist, mehandi tattooist and even a tarot card reader. To complete the Indian mela-feel, Bollywood hits play, at the background, throughout the evening. So people can just relax by the poolside with good food, friends, family and beer.
