“People who love to eat are always the best people” – Julia Child.
I found these words on the wall of Atmosfire’s ‘celebration pit’ at Electronic City and needless to say I am one of those people.
For me, food is a way of life. Having been brought up with the richness of Bengali cuisine, it was evident that food would be a huge a part of my life. Coming to Bangalore, I have explored countless restaurants and food joints and being a foodie, I believe that every place has something unique to offer.
Every day a new restaurant opens in a different part of Bangalore but there are very few that leave you craving for more. Here are few of my favourite restaurants which I recommend to my friends, family and readers.
Anupam’s Coast II Coast – Located on MG Road, this place surprised me the first time I visited. Everything here is just brilliant but few things which are a must try – Chicken Ghee Roast with Neer Dosa is heavenly. If you haven’t had this, drop everything and treat your taste buds now. You can also try Crab Masala Fry and Mutton Rogan Josh, they are equally good.
Tangerine – Located on the fourth floor of Davanam Sarovar Portico Suites, opposite Madivala Police Station. This is one place not many are aware of. If you are here, start with Gosht Goli Shorba Soup, one of the best I have ever had. Must try here which will leave your tongue wagging is the range of desserts, especially Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake and Jalebi with Chocolate sauce.
California Pizza Kitchen – Pizza lovers swears by this name. It is located in different parts of Bangalore but I am regular at the Indiranagar outlet. Popularly known as CPK, is known for its innovative, fresh, great tasting pizzas & unparalleled experience. My favourite here is Spicy Cilantro Pizza, Kasundi Paneer Pizza and Rustica. And not to forget the lip-smacking desserts - Sticky Toffee Pudding and Tiramisu.
Ginger Tiger – This is a winner all the way. Located in Indiranagar, Ginger Tiger is a stir-fry, Chinese restaurant and the two factors that make it stand out among the competition are its price and taste. My favourite here is Sizzling Prawns with Singapore Chilli Sauce, Stir Fried Chilli Chicken with Cashewnuts and if you have a sweet tooth, there is one dessert you should definitely try before you die. ‘Chocolate Spring Rolls’. It is one of the best things I have ever had.
