Theater Konnection at The Lalit Ashok

An ethereal inter-mix of Gourmet Graze and The Stage presents What’s Up With Indian Men? Gourmet Graze is by Chef Subodh Goyal and The Stage by Underdog Entertainment.

Taste and smell, stir up different emotions, which remain etched in our memory for long. Exploring the visceral connection between food and theatre, The Lalit Ashok brings to you the fifth edition of Theater Konnection on September.

Speaking prior to the event, Amit Samson, General Manager, The Lalit Ashok said, “We believe that good food not only enhances the overall experience of the performance by virtue of its taste, it also helps build the cultural context.”
To delight the patrons of Theater Konnection, Chef Subodh Goyal has handpicked the selections for the prix fixe menu, which include canapés, tandoori salmon tikka with basil, zucchini and cheese samboussek, and an assortment of sushi wraps.

The menu also offers an assortment of vegetarian and non-vegetarian canapés with cheese, masala sticks and grissini. Pass around snacks such as tandoori salmon tikka with basil, chicken teriyaki on skewer and many more, will maintain an interactive atmosphere for diners.

The chefs on site will be serving sushi and salad station, an array of sushi, lettuce, taco, and pita wrap with choice of delicatessen cold cuts and cheeses. The evening will also include a shashlik station serving out chicken, lamb, pork and beef with accompaniments. Main course menu Indian dishes like dum ki bater, gosht roan-e-nishat, peshawari khurchan murgh and channe aur mutter ki bhujia amongst others.

The Oriental menu includes Thai style stir-fried prawns with chilly, garlic and sweet basil, silken tofu and seasonal vegetable in Southern Thailand curry with roasted peanuts, stir-fried mushroom in Thai red curry and jasmine rice.

It’s a perfect set-up for the discerning food lover who has an artistic bent of mind, as the evening offers the best of both worlds – food and theatre. An exquisite buffet spread of Indian, Continental and Pan-Asian cuisines is being coupled with a fun, romantic play on a girl trying to find love in the hybridised Indian social milieu. The play is infused with music and slam poetry.

About the Play:
The makers of love, sex and mocha present ‘What’s up with these Indian men’, which is a quirky and fun take on a girl's journey of trying to find love in the confused, urban Indian society. It brings to the fore the numerous male stereotypes that exist in our society today. From the pretentious metro-sexual type, to the penny saving Maddu boy, to the dowry mongering Reddy boy, the play exposes each one of them in a comical fashion.
